Kodansha announced Wednesday that the manga Blue Lock by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yūsuke Nomura will be adapted for the theater. The play will be performed at the Sankei Hall Breeze Theater in Osaka from May 4 to 7, 2023; and Tokyo’s Sunshine Theatre from May 11-14. Ryōhei Takenaka, who you can see below, will play the lead role of Yoichi Isagi.
The cast will also star Nobunaga Satō as Meguru Bachira, Shôta Matsuda as Rensuke Kunigami, and Ryō Saeki as Hyoma Chigiri.
Naohiro Ise is directing and scripting this play.
The manga Blue Lock was released in Weekly Shônen Magazine in August 2018. He was awarded the title of Best Shônen at the 45th Manga Awards last year. In France, the title is available from Pika.
